Season's Greetings Dancers
At this week's HMJ it was decided not to hold a session on 23 December. People thought that it was too near Christmas and there would be other priorities and consequently there is insufficient support - so that date is CANCELLED.
So the final session of HMJ will now be next Wednesday 16 December and it will be a freestyle Party Night with no classes. Dress optional. Usual soft drinks provided but you are welcome to byo if you prefer. You are also invited to bring a little 'finger' food to share at a Dutch Buffet table.
Also, Heather will be running a raffle with proceeds to St Luke's & Ashgate hospices and to the Air Ambulance service.
Usual admission price and times apply but we may go on a little longer if there is sufficient demand.
It would be great to see you for this closing down finale and may I thank you all for a most enjoyable past six years with HMJ.
All best wishes for Christmas & the New Year and.............

Thanks to all who came to last night's session at HMJ. Although it was relatively 'thin' night (foggy weather, bonfires etc.), it was most enjoyable and it was good to see some new people coming along. Keep coming & keep spreading the word. Thank you.
It came as a sudden surprise that Dorothy, for personal reasons, will not be coming to HMJ any longer. I know she is saddened to have to come to this decision and I know we will all miss her. She has been an absolute stalwart of support to the club; by coming early to prepare for the sessions, helping to demo in the classes, receiving people with a friendly smile at the desk and helping people to dance! We will miss a real treasure and I will be losing a lovely dancing friend. We all hope she will look us up as & when. Xxx
So we need someone NOW to fill the void. A volunteer to 'step up to the plate', if the club is to continue to run smoothly. It's not onerous, but strong weekly commitment is preferred. Please get in touch with me asap, if you could give time to doing this. Thanks & keep dancing.

Just a reminder that next Wednesday is our Halloween Night at Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club and because of recent excellent attendances, we are able to thank you for your support by making it a FREE session!
Fancy Dress is optional but there will be small prizes for the best couple, the best solo man & best solo woman, whether scary, funny or just imaginative. It is also an opportunity to showcase H.M.J. to anyone you may know, who may wish to join our future sessions. So please keep spreading the word & invite your friends.
We invite you to bring a little 'finger food' to share at a Dutch buffet table (thank-you Dorothy who will be co-ordinating this). The usual soft drinks will be available, but please feel free to bring your own drinks if you prefer.
Normal times apply, but we may extend the session a little if there is sufficient demand.
Looking forward to seeing you (even if I won't recognise you!)

Hope you have had (or are still having) a great summer and looking forward to our new series at the Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club.
We re-open with the first session at the Harthill Village Hall on Wednesday 16 September, 7.45-10.15pm. Admission only £4!
Over the summer break we have been dancing at other places and talking to people about our sessions at HMJ and some interest has been shown by folk thinking of joining us for this new series - To you we extend a very warm welcome and look forward to seeing you.
We are also aware that a few folk will still be away or have other engagements on the opening night, which may be a bit quiet - No problem and we look forward to seeing you later.
Can you help to advertise our club? We are always interested in hearing from 'new' people or from past members who may wish to re-join us. Please spread the word - the more the merrier!
Looking forward to seeing you soon......

As promised, I’ve gone through the list of people interested in dancing during the summer break (and also looked back on my own, personal contacts list), and booked Anston Parish Hall for Friday 26 June 2015, 8-11pm, for a summer social/refresher dance.
Derrek and I will demonstrate/teach a modern jive routine so that no-one needs to be a wallflower. As with the Wednesday night classes, no partners are required as there should be enough people attending to allow us to change partners throughout the evening.
Derrek will also DJ throughout the evening so that there is a good mix of music/dance styles.
There will be the usual refreshments included in the price. Alcohol is allowed on the premises (but not allowed outside the Hall) if you want to bring your own.
We are proposing a price of £4 per person to cover costs.
Please check out the website for address details (look on the ‘calendar’ page and there will be a link to Google maps when you click on 26 June - listed as Anston Parish Council).
Please let me know if you are interested in attending on the Friday evening. I would have picked Saturday but it’s the Steam Rally weekend and people attending that event might be too tired to attend dancing on the same day.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Many thanks for all your support in getting our new series of HMJ sessions off to a good start. In spite of the wintry weather, our attendances have been very encouraging so far and it has been good to see some 'new' faces turning up. More folk coming along, especially ladies would be an added bonus! Please continue to spread the word.
Other good news is that my 'crashed' laptop has been sorted out and I have managed to recover most of the HMJ contact list, so I hope most members will receive this message.
Also I have decided to phase out my old e-mail address, so please will you delete firstname.lastname@example.org from your records (if you have it). Please continue to use email@example.com if you need to get in touch. Thanks.
Inclement weather! Let's hope we don't have close because of the weather this winter, but if we do, I will try to send out an e-mail before 6pm on the Wednesday. So please check after 6pm - before setting out. No e-mail should mean that the session will be going ahead.
Finally, this e-mail may be reaching people who we have not seen at Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club recently. If so, it would be great to see you again. But if you are no longer interested in HMJ please reply with the subject 'unsubscribe' and we will delete your details from our contact list. We would be sorry to lose you but you can always visit our website:
Best wishes & keeeeeep dancing!

Just 2 more sessions to go before we wrap up the current series of the Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club. You will see in the attachment an item, published in the village newsletter, which briefly sums up our recent activities at HMJ. It includes an appeal for more local people to join us. It is disappointing that attendances have 'dipped' in recent weeks, so we hope you will continue to support the club and encourage more folk to come along.
There is a sheet on the reception table for you to sign, if you are able & willing to give regular support a new series after the Christmas break. Alternatively, if you are unable to get to HMJ in the next 2 weeks before we close, you can e-mail me. But if you won't be coming any more & don't wish to receive e-mails from HMJ please reply with the message 'UNSUBSCRIBE' and your details will be deleted from our contacts list. We would be sorry to lose you but you could continue to see what we are up to by visiting our website www.harthillmodernjive.webs.com.
We will be celebrating the end of this series with a party dance on Wednesday 17 December, so we hope members old and new will come along and get Christmas off to a good start. Your guests will be made welcome too - the more the merrier! Dress is 'smart' optional. You are also invited to make a SMALL contribution to a 'Dutch' finger style buffet which shouldn't involve cutlery and washing-up! Paper plates will be provided. The usual soft drinks will be available and you are welcome to bring your own 'tipple'. We may extend the closing time if there is sufficient demand. We will also be announcing whether or not there is sufficient support for a new series in the New Year.
May I take this opportunity to thank all who have supported HMJ during this series and special thanks to those of you who have helped on the nights in any way. It's been a very happy and rewarding time for me.
Thankyou. A very merry Christmas to all and keeeeeeeeeeep dancing!

This band has been recommended by Geoff, one of our regular dancers.
Washington Whirligig play jazz, swing & blues music. It's FREE and starts at 8.45pm at the Roland Arms, Mansfield Road, Aston, S26 2BR.
Geoff says that we should be able to dance to their music.
Might see you therev if I can get a night out!

Hope you are enjoying what must be the best British Summer for years - so far!
Just to let you know that the Harthill Village Hall has re-opened after the re-furbishment and to remind you that Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club will be open for a second Summer Social Dance on Wednesday 20 August 7.45pm-10.15pm.
It is also being advertised as a 'taster night' in the hope of attracting some more 'new' people to join in, so we may run a short simple class if there's sufficient interest. Please feel free to print out copies and display them if you are able to help. Please 'spread the word' amongst your friends and get them to come along. Many thanks.
Also you will see on the poster a reminder that HMJ will be re-opening with a new weekly series on Wednesday 17 September when we hope to see you all once again.
Regards to all & keeeeeep dancing!
