FREE PARTY DANCE - 7.45-10.45 TONIGHT 8/5/13

Posted by Siobhan Morley on May 8, 2013 at 12:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Hi dancers

A late reminder that TONIGHT is our FREE PARTY DANCE from 7.45 - 10.45pm in Harthill Village Hall. Bring your own drinks and a little something for a 'Dutch' finger buffet if you wish.

Also 'drag' along any folk who may wish to see what we get up to at H.M.J. and who may like to join in the new series starting in the Autumn. Most of all we look forward to seeing as many past and present members coming on down. So get your glad rags on and let's get groovin' !

After the party H.M.J. will be closed for the summer, but we are delighted that we now have enough folk 'signed up' in order to run a new series. This will be commencing on Wednesday 18th September and not as previously advertised (sorry for any confusion and inconvenience caused).

LATEST NEWS FROM HMJ & LATIN DANCE CLUB

Posted by Siobhan Morley on April 11, 2013 at 11:55 AM Comments comments (0)

We are now approaching the end of our current series of H.M.J. and we shall be celebrating with an 'end of term' FREE Party Night on Wednesday 8th May.

So get your glads rags on and let's get groovin'! All past & present members are welcome. Also if you know of anyone who may wish to join H.M.J in the future - they are invited too.

We have decided to extend this final session to 10.45pm. so please bring a tipple (and a glass) if you wish. You are also invited to bring a SMALL contribution towards a Dutch finger buffet if you wish.

After the party night, H.M.J. will close for the summer. But we are inviting people to support a new series, commencing in September and running up to Christmas. A list is now going round on Wednesdays and we are looking for a minimum of 24 folk willing to support a new series, to make it viable. The more the merrier, so please sign-up on one of our remaining sessions if you are able to come along on a regular basis. Alternatively you could e-mail us. New folk are always welcome so please spread the word and get them to come along too.

Keeping in touch

Siobhan has researched a wealth of information which contains suggestions for things to do & places to go over the summer months. If there is enough interest in joining up with other H.M.J. folk at any of these events, Siobhan will endeavour to sort something out and she will also be posting this info on our website under Forums. Please take a look at these suggestions and let Siobhan know of any thing that appeals. There are 'signing-up' sheets going round or you can e-mail her through the website Members page.  Detailed information for these suggestions can be found by looking in the HMJ website's Links pages.

Summer workshops (Latin Styles)

As there seems to be growing interest in the Latin classes at H.M.J. we are proposing 3 summer workshops for people wishing to learn or improve their Rumba, Salsa, Cha-cha-cha or Tango.

These are planned for Wednesday 29th May; Wednesday 26th June & Wednesday 17th July at Harthill Village Hall. Each workshop would run from 8pm - 9.30pm and price would depend on numbers attending.

Again a list is circulating (more paper - sorry!) or you can e-mail Derrek or Carol. We are looking for a minimum of 12 folk at each workshop - the more the merrier.

No longer interested in us?

We would be sorry to lose you, but if you don't want our e-mails any more, please contact us to 'unsubscribe' and we will delete your details from our contact list. You can always see what's happening at H.M.J. by visiting this website http://www.harthillmodernjive.webs.com

Hope to see you all at our remaining sessions, especially our final party night.

Thankyou for all your support - have a great summer and......

The 'Dynamic Duo' return!

Posted by Siobhan Morley on March 19, 2013 at 6:55 AM Comments comments (0)

Derrek and Carol will thankfully be back in control of HMJ, on Wednesday 20 March 2013, after their 'jollies'!

Siobhan, Walter, Kath, Cathy, Sheila & Graham would like to say thank you to all HMJ members for your patience over the last 3 weeks as we muddled our way through the modern jive and latin dance sessions.

We do hope we haven't put off any 'newbies' or regulars alike.  We had a good turnout over the 3 weeks, so that was very encouraging, and we hope that this will continue.

I think we all appreciate what Derrek and Carol do week after week.

WELCOME BACK DERREK & CAROL!

THANKS AND ARRANGEMENTS FOR NEXT 3 WEEKS...

Hi Dancers,

Just a few lines to say thankyou for supporting H.M.J. during these cold winter nights.

It was disappointing to have to cancel last week's session because of the snow, but nice to see folk returning last night and especially good to welcome some new people.

PLEASE NOTE. We are unable to send out cancellation e-mails over the next 3 weeks so PLAN B is :-

Should the weather looks 'iffy' on Wednesday evenings, please contact Sheila or Graham to see if the club will be open.

01909772880 (home) or 07936325800 (mobile). Many thanks to Sheila for volunteering to do this.

Sheila & Graham are also part of the gang who will be helping to run H.M.J. for the next 3 weeks. Cathy has been busy selecting some fresh tracks of music for you to dance to and Katie, Siobhan and Walter will be leading the classes. All are volunteering their time and we can't them them enough. So please keep coming along and supporting them.

See you soon & keeeeeeep dancing !

Best wishes

Sorry folks but we are closed tonight due to the snow.  Normal service will be resumed next week - weather permitting!

CHECK YOUR EMAILS/TEXT MESSAGES RE POSSIBLE CLOSURES DUE TO SNOW

Posted by Siobhan Morley on February 5, 2013 at 9:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Hi Dancers,

Thank-you for supporting the new series and getting the nights off to a great start. Our attendances have been up (with the exception of the snowy week), which has been very encouraging.

More snow may be on its way, so please check your e-mails from 6pm on any Wednesday to see if the club will be closed. If we take the decision to do this, we will endeavour to post a message before 6pm.

Otherwise, if you don't receive a message, we would hope to see you at the sessions as usual. If in any doubt you could give us a call on 01909 770114.

Don't forget our 'Valentine's Dance Night' on Wednesday 13th. February. Yes it's a day early, but never mind eh! Carol would like us all to wear something red, but otherwise don't go to any trouble. Carol will provide a few table nibbles & tea lights and there will be the usual free drinks. Please feel free to b.y.o. if you prefer. There will be the usual classes and freestyle dance mix. Times and admission prices remain the same.

Our e-mail contact list has expanded considerably recently and we are conscious that we no longer see some folk that are on the list. If you don't wish to receive e-mails from Harthill Modern Jive, please reply with the message 'Unsubscribe' and we will delete your details from our contact list.

Best wishes and (weather permitting) keeeeeeeep dancing.

We are now looking forward to our Christmas Dance Party Nights, so get your glad rags on and let's get groovin'.

To celebrate the end of our current series, we invite all our dancers and friends to our Christmas Dance Party on Wednesday 19th December. Your guests would also be welcome. Plenty of freestyle dancing in Modern Jive, Cha-cha, Rumba, Salsa & Tango. Soft drinks provided, but bring your own tipples (and glasses).

We are also proposing a fun NEW YEAR'S EVE party night, with lots of dancing to suit all tastes. Seasonal silly games and party pieces could also be part of the 'mix'. Extended hours to 1am, so we can see in the New Year in traditional fashion.

Bring your friends, your own drinks (and glasses) and contributions for a 'Dutch buffet' would be welcome. Attendance will be by advanced invitation only and there will be no admission on the door. So if you are interested in joining us for this please contact us by the end of November.

HALLOWEEN PARTY NIGHT

Posted by Siobhan Morley on October 26, 2012 at 8:40 AM Comments comments (0)

Hi Dancers,

Just a final reminder about our Halloween Fancy Dress night on Wednesday 31st October. Dressing up is voluntary and optional, but we are suggesting you wear something black or other spooky item. There will be prizes for the best turn outs. Carol is also arranging for some suitable nibbles to put out on the tables and she has provided some pumpkins for those with creative talents to take away (many thanks)

These will be illuminated and judged on the night. Again there will be prizes. Normal session charges and times apply. The night will include the usual jive and latin classes and you are welcome to bring along guests too.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON NEW YEAR'S EVE ? No plans? Would you consider supporting a party night in the Harthill Village Hall ?

H.M.J has provisionally booked the hall and we are proposing a 'knees up' for members and friends with all styles of dancing catered for depending on whats wanted - Modern Jive, Latin, Folk, Ballroom, Disco etc., etc. There could also be 'entertainment' in the form of home spun party pieces and the odd party game etc.

There won't be a bar BUT do bring your own drinks (and glasses). If there is enough interest we could supply a cask of real ale for you to buy from at cost.

There would be a Dutch buffet (ie. you are invited to contibute items for sharing at a buffet table).

The party would run from 8.30pm to 1am, so that we can see -in the New Year. We will be making a small charge to cover hall hire and a donation to Merlyn's Music Box (Derrek will M.C. and be D.J for the night, but contributions are most welcome)

Admission (for security purposes) will be by invitation only, so please consider asking your friends to join us. We are hoping to get support from at least 40 folk and upwards to make it a goer - the more the merrier.

A list is now circulating at H.M.J for people to 'sign up', so we do hope you will be able to. Or you can e-mail us if you prefer.

In the meantime....... Keeeeeeep dancing!

Best wishes

PARTY OPPORTUNITIES AT HMJ!

Hi Dancers,

We are now well and truly back into our new series of weekly sessions which will take us up to Christmas.

Thanks to all past members who have returned and a big welcome to those joining us for the first time. For beginners, the Modern Jive may seem daunting at first, but usually people get into the groove after only a few sessions, because at Harthill Modern Jive everyone if friendly and supportive. The club is run by amateurs and the emphasis is on fun dancing and we don't take things too seriously.

COMING UP SOON. We are planning a fancy dress night for Halloween on Wednesday 31st. October. This is voluntary and optional, but we are suggesting you wear something black or other ghostly item. There will be prizes for the best turn outs. Carol is also arranging for some suitable nibbles to put out on the tables and she will be providing some pumpkins beforehand for those with creative talents to take away. These will be illuminated and judged on the night. Again there will be prizes. Usual admission charges and times apply. You are welcome to bring guests along too.
