As promised, I’ve gone through the list of people interested in dancing during the summer break (and also looked back on my own, personal contacts list), and booked Anston Parish Hall for Friday 26 June 2015, 8-11pm, for a summer social/refresher dance.
Derrek and I will demonstrate/teach a modern jive routine so that no-one needs to be a wallflower. As with the Wednesday night classes, no partners are required as there should be enough people attending to allow us to change partners throughout the evening.
Derrek will also DJ throughout the evening so that there is a good mix of music/dance styles.
There will be the usual refreshments included in the price. Alcohol is allowed on the premises (but not allowed outside the Hall) if you want to bring your own.
We are proposing a price of £4 per person to cover costs.
Please check out the website for address details (look on the ‘calendar’ page and there will be a link to Google maps when you click on 26 June - listed as Anston Parish Council).
Please let me know if you are interested in attending on the Friday evening. I would have picked Saturday but it’s the Steam Rally weekend and people attending that event might be too tired to attend dancing on the same day.
We look forward to seeing you there.

I regret to inform you that the final session of the series at Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club ON Wednesday, 6 May, has had to be cancelled due to insufficient support and the club is now closed for the summer.
I would like to thank the folk who had hoped to come along to this - I'm sure you will be as disappointed as we are. Thank you also to all our 'regulars' who have supported the series (and the ones before), and especially Dorothy, Linda, Richard, Siobhan & all who have helped to run the club. This has been very much appreciated.
If you would like us to run a new series after the summer we would need to know who would support one. This would run from mid September up to Christmas. If we get sufficient numbers willing to give reasonable commitment, we will circulate details nearer the time using our contacts list, website and local publicity outlets.
So please get in touch if you are willing and able to support this.
Also now would be a good time to 'Spring Clean' our contacts list and remove the names of those who haven't come along to HMJ recently. Please let us know if you wish to remain on it.
It would also be good to hear from you if you are dancing in other places - maybe others at HMJ would be interested too.
Have a great summer & keeeeeeep dancing.

Because of falling attendances recently and also because some of regulars have informed me that they will not be coming along to H.M.J. for a couple of weeks, the club will be closed on Wednesday 22nd & Wednesday 29th. April. Please would you inform people you may know, as not everyone is on our e-mail contact list - thankyou.
At the moment we are hoping to open for a final dance night on Wednesday 6th. May. If you are expecting to come to this, will you please let me know by e-mail, text or phone a.s.a.p. If I don't get sufficient numbers saying 'YES', then I'm afraid that this will have to be cancelled too.If you don't reply by 30th. April I will take it as a 'NO'. Please watch this space. I will send out an e-mail when your responses are in.
If you know of any appropriate dancing that happens elsewhere on Wednesdays, which would be of interest to our members, please let me know and I will be happy to forward details on to people on our contacts list. I'm sure there will be some of us looking for somewhere else to go and dance.
Apologies for any inconvenience this decision will cause. If we don't re-open before the scheduled end of the series, may I take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support given to H.M.J. and trust that the club has been a positive for you. Its been good to dance and make new friends with people and I hope we shall meet up again soon.
Kind regards & keep dancing

You know that look you get from your partner? You know - the one you get which is ultra romantic? No? ........ neither do I (lol) !
Never mind. With Valentine's Day coming up, HMJ is having a party dance TONIGHT (Wednesday 11 February). Although this was only decided upon last week, due to recent closures, we hope you will come and join in. Dress is optional but you are invited to wear something Red. You are also welcome to bring along some nibbles. The usual soft drinks will be provided, but you are welcome to B.Y.O. tipple if you prefer. Usual times and normal admission price applies. New people are always welcome - the more the merrier.
Best wishes & keeeeeeep dancing!
p.s. Apologies to anyone who has not been getting recent e-mails from Harthill Modern Jive. I hope the problems I've had with my computer are now resolved.

Hopefully it will be open again next week - Wednesday 4 February 2015. Apologies for any inconvenience and disappointment that this may have caused you.

Many thanks for all your support in getting our new series of HMJ sessions off to a good start. In spite of the wintry weather, our attendances have been very encouraging so far and it has been good to see some 'new' faces turning up. More folk coming along, especially ladies would be an added bonus! Please continue to spread the word.
Other good news is that my 'crashed' laptop has been sorted out and I have managed to recover most of the HMJ contact list, so I hope most members will receive this message.
Also I have decided to phase out my old e-mail address, so please will you delete firstname.lastname@example.org from your records (if you have it). Please continue to use email@example.com if you need to get in touch. Thanks.
Inclement weather! Let's hope we don't have close because of the weather this winter, but if we do, I will try to send out an e-mail before 6pm on the Wednesday. So please check after 6pm - before setting out. No e-mail should mean that the session will be going ahead.
Finally, this e-mail may be reaching people who we have not seen at Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club recently. If so, it would be great to see you again. But if you are no longer interested in HMJ please reply with the subject 'unsubscribe' and we will delete your details from our contact list. We would be sorry to lose you but you can always visit our website:
Best wishes & keeeeeep dancing!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I trust you have had a great time over Christmas & New Year and that you are now ready to join in a new series at the Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club (HMJ).
We shall be re-opening on Wednesday 7 January at Harthill Village Hall from 7.45pm for a trial period until the end of the month.
During this time, we will be reviewing the longer term viability of the club. Unfortunately, towards the end of the last series, attendances were 'dipping' and, if this trend continues, we may have to close the club so please continue to give us your support and encourage others to join in.
Another problem is that my laptop has 'packed-up' and I have lost most of my e-mail contact list, so many people won't be getting this message. Please spread the word to any HMJ folk for whom you have contact details. Thankyou.
Finally, I'm glad we have got rid of the snow (for the time being at least!). But in the event of more inclement weather, please check with me before setting out to HMJ to see if we are open. I shall try to e-mail as many as possible before 6pm if the club is closed.
Alternatively you can contact me by text or phone before 7pm on 07742 670977. Also Siobhan may be able to post a notice on our website www.harthillmodernjive.webs.com.
Hope to see you next Wednesday and keeeeeeeep dancing!

Just 2 more sessions to go before we wrap up the current series of the Harthill Modern Jive & Latin Dance Club. You will see in the attachment an item, published in the village newsletter, which briefly sums up our recent activities at HMJ. It includes an appeal for more local people to join us. It is disappointing that attendances have 'dipped' in recent weeks, so we hope you will continue to support the club and encourage more folk to come along.
There is a sheet on the reception table for you to sign, if you are able & willing to give regular support a new series after the Christmas break. Alternatively, if you are unable to get to HMJ in the next 2 weeks before we close, you can e-mail me. But if you won't be coming any more & don't wish to receive e-mails from HMJ please reply with the message 'UNSUBSCRIBE' and your details will be deleted from our contacts list. We would be sorry to lose you but you could continue to see what we are up to by visiting our website www.harthillmodernjive.webs.com.
We will be celebrating the end of this series with a party dance on Wednesday 17 December, so we hope members old and new will come along and get Christmas off to a good start. Your guests will be made welcome too - the more the merrier! Dress is 'smart' optional. You are also invited to make a SMALL contribution to a 'Dutch' finger style buffet which shouldn't involve cutlery and washing-up! Paper plates will be provided. The usual soft drinks will be available and you are welcome to bring your own 'tipple'. We may extend the closing time if there is sufficient demand. We will also be announcing whether or not there is sufficient support for a new series in the New Year.
May I take this opportunity to thank all who have supported HMJ during this series and special thanks to those of you who have helped on the nights in any way. It's been a very happy and rewarding time for me.
Thankyou. A very merry Christmas to all and keeeeeeeeeeep dancing!

This band has been recommended by Geoff, one of our regular dancers.
Washington Whirligig play jazz, swing & blues music. It's FREE and starts at 8.45pm at the Roland Arms, Mansfield Road, Aston, S26 2BR.
Geoff says that we should be able to dance to their music.
Might see you therev if I can get a night out!
